This is Richard Hayne, President and CEO of Urban Outfitters. He’s also a supporter of Rick Santorum and donated over $13,000 to him. He’s against gay marriage and abortion.

His company pulled a pro-gay shirt back in 08, they also blatantly ripped off an Etsy designers work, featured a t-shirt for women that said “eat less” and most recently had a card with a “tranny” slur on in.

Why do you shop at this store? I imagine because you weren’t aware of these facts. Now you are, so stop shopping there.

Let it be known that Steven Moffat has no interest in bisexual visibility, and anybody who says anything else is clearly wrong. He says so himself.

Okay, wait, how is he being rude? How is Steven being rude?! I don’t get you people sometimes, as soon as this guy says something, whatever it is, it becomes the worst thing in the entire world. It’s really frustrating, and I wish it would stop. Did people complain that J.K. Rowling wasn’t contributing to gay visibility when she made Dumbledore gay but never outright stated in the books? Did people complain when Benedict claimed that Sherlock wasn’t asexual and that he wasn’t providing for asexual visibility? No. They didn’t. You know why? Because people senselessly worship both without ever stopping to say “hey that might actually not be so great”. When a writer of a character brings up a point like “this character is bisexual” they aren’t all of a sudden morally obligated to make that character responsible for whatever “visibility” they can provide. Being bisexual is just part of the character, not necessarily an attempt to provide awareness. Sure, that would be lovely, and yes, more awareness is necessary, but bashing the writers of a character(by saying FUCK OFF, AND SIT THE FUCK DOWN, AND DOUCHEBAG) because they aren’t making a campaign out of one character trait is ridiculous and cruel. Stop trying to find reasons to hate this guy, if you despise him so much, please stop watching his shows and criticizing ever single.damn.thing. he does. I hate to break the news, but he’s doing his job as a writer. Steven Moffat is not trying to be an activist for gay rights or any other rights by doing his job. Calm down.

All I get from people like this is: “A bisexual person has to be visible as such, because that’s what they are. All they are. They can not be visible as woman/man/trans*, or as friend, or as brother or sister, or parent or child, or policeman or nurse, or dog owner or musician or whatever. Because they are bisexual, and that has to be visible.” Arguing like this reduces people to their sexual orientation, as if nothing else was important. And it annoys me no end.

I’m a lesbian (or maybe still bisexual, though I haven’t wanted a guy in years now), but sometimes I want to be a political activist, or a sister, or a catholic, or a friend, or a student, or a kindergarten teacher, or and artist and writer, and I’d hate it if all people saw of me was my orientation. Geez.
